Programs

BLAST (Bicycle Lesson And Safety Training) is a bicycle education program that teaches elementary-aged children the skills and knowledge needed to ride safely and confidently. Developed by bicycle education professionals and reviewed by educators and parents, BLAST combines classroom learning with hands-on riding practice in a controlled environment. Led by BikeWalkKC instructors in partnership with the Fairway Police Department and Fairway Parks & Recreation, the course focuses on improving bike handling, building basic traffic skills, and helping students identify and avoid hazards. Bicycles and helmets are available for a limited number of participants, with all additional equipment and instruction provided.
