History Comes Alive: Cemetery Tour

A couple blocks away from the current Shawnee Indian Mission Historic Site sits a small Methodist Cemetery that shares a sidewalk with the bustling Shawnee Mission Parkway. Site historians and volunteers will share the stories of those buried in this historic cemetery, from a slave owner and county namesake, to a white child born at the Kickapoo Mission and who died at the Shawnee Indian Mission at age 1. Step inside the cemetery and learn about those buried in the only cemetery in Fairway.

Note:

Parking will be at Old Mission Methodist and participants will walk two blocks east next to Shawnee Mission parkway to the cemetery.
